The renaissance of heterosexuality

Following the social upheavals of recent decades – from the justi ed visibility of homosexual identities in the 1990s to the latest wave of gender diversity – there are now signs of a return to traditional gender roles and heterosexual relationships.

It is as if a deep collective need for clarity, polarity and the archaic interplay of masculinity and femininity is awakening. The longing for striking masculinity and sensual femininity seems stronger today than ever before – not as a step backwards, but as a counter-movement to an overly diffuse identity landscape.

In my work, I consciously represent the often weakened poles: man and woman – not as stereotypical shells, but as complementary forces. I invite everyone to join the discourse – the only requirement is a driving licence. Not arbitrarily, but as a metaphor for maturity, responsibility and orientation.
